More Information

These visual effects are made possible by spectacular advances in computer algorithms and CG lighting models combined with extreme artistic and creative talent. In this talk, Steve Wright will demonstrate the art and science behind these blockbuster visual effects. He will demonstrate some of the key tech used in today’s visual effects such as camera tracking, particle systems, bluescreen and greenscreen keying and how they are used to create spectacular visuals effects that inspire awe and wonder – not to mention billions in revenue. There is also a key artistic component to visual effects where the artists must not only obtain absolute photorealism, but go beyond that to enhance the visual effects creatively to increase its emotional impact on the storytelling to create a truly spectacular combination of art, science and movie magic.
